Hello friends! Happy Friday! How are you? What are you doing this weekend?
We’re hanging out here and at home, and I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend after so many vacation activities and adventures. Suddenly it’s winter here in Tucson – rainy and freezing! -And we’re having a lot of puppy fun in between trying to keep Lola from destroying all the furniture.
(I’m still trying to get a picture of Macy and Lola together but they always move at lightning speed together)
Liv turned 14 yesterday and I can’t even believe it. Many thanks to my OG reader friends who have been there since the early days. I reached out to a couple of you on Instagram yesterday to tell me you were reading the blog while I was rocking and teaching Zumba with her in my belly. It really feels like yesterday and 14 lives ago at the same time.

Her birth story, part one is here and part two is here.
I post fewer kids here on the blog – I ask permission before I post anything – but she is the smartest, sweetest girl with a heart of gold. She’s also obsessed with K-pop, which is a big reason why we’re going to Seoul this summer. We just had cake here at home because we’re heading to San Diego and Disney next week to celebrate!
Right now, it’s time for our weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your favorites too, so please say something you love in the comments section below.
1.9 Friday Favorites
Fashion, beauty and randomness:
Always Rio Ranch! They’re having a lot of great sales this season, but this one is from Rent the Runway. I still use the unlimited membership and love it. It’s great for events and travel, and it helps keep me from shopping *too much.* 😉

The good stuff of Oak Basics! They gifted me a body wash and a candle before the holiday, and I loved the products so much, I ended up buying more as gifts. The lotion is very hydrating with a light scent – it’s a little piney in a good way – and I love the candle.

Read, watch, listen:
Don’t miss this week’s podcast episode here! I’m sharing some realistic longevity-based goals for the new year.
It’s always cheese board season.

Sculpt Society now has nutrition and I love the new idea of meals and treats. I’m adding many of their ideas to our meal plan for next week. If you want to try TSS, it’s one of my favorite at-home workouts ever. Use code GINAJAN here to try it!

I started this audiobook and I already feel like it has had a huge positive impact on my mindset.
Fitness, health and good eating:
– The new food pyramid. Do I think it’s perfect? No, I think there are a lot of people who are unable to tolerate or digest large amounts of animal and dairy products. I’m not sure where beans fit on the pyramid, and they’re missing the nuance when it comes to saturated fat. At the same time, I think it’s a big step in the right direction. I like to focus on whole, unprocessed foods, lots of fruits and vegetables, and a moderate approach to grains (especially here in the US where many of our grains are compromised).
And while I don’t think refined sugar and processed foods should be a part of everyday life, we will make room for fun things every now and then (see below).
-These cones are gluten-free. very good.

-I also bought some Sweet Lorraine pastries and they are amazing. It definitely exceeded my expectations, especially since so many gluten-free baking options can be failures. I made some Nutella pastries and also some Pop Tart creations with strawberry jam and simple frosting and sprinkles.

(Just add your toppings, egg wash, and bake for 14 minutes at 400 degrees)
Thank you so much for visiting the blog today! Have a great weekend and I’ll see you soon!
xoxo
