7 things we learned in May | Man against fat

It seems like just yesterday we were all sharing photos of a curly-haired Justin Timberlake announcing the start of May. We’re now on the cusp of June, with its promises of uninterrupted sunshine, time spent researching the best ways to avoid the dreaded skin scrub, and did we mention that? The first MAN v FAT Football Championships at St George’s Park of the year!

But before we get it also Excited, let’s take a look to see what we learned in May…

Cheese is the country’s favorite sandwich filling

This is just cheese, on its own, with no salad or meat or anything, which is pretty weird if you ask us. Cheese on toast? Yes. Two slices of bread with grated cheese in the middle? No, just no. The Warburtons survey proves two things: the humble sausage sandwich, which came in fourth place, doesn’t get the love and respect it deserves, and people can’t be trusted.

Going to McDonald’s?

The double cheeseburger has fewer calories than a quarter pound, and you get two beef patties instead of one. Check out some other healthy McDonald’s swaps here.

What we learned in May

This lady really loves posing

Using a standing desk burns an additional 50 calories per hour.

It doesn’t seem like a lot, but by standing for 4 hours out of your 8-hour workday, you’ll burn an extra 200 calories per day. That’s 1,000 calories a week and 52,000 calories a year, which is the equivalent of running 18+ marathons a year, all from your desk. it’s not truly Same thing as running 18 marathons, right? We appreciate the idea, so thanks to Varidesk themselves, who sent us this information and who (unsurprisingly) works in the standing desk industry.

One soccer ball weighs approximately one pound.

This is the FIFA-regulated soccer ball, which must be spherical and weigh no more than 450 grams, or 0.99 pounds. So consider this: MAN vs FAT soccer players have lost nearly 100,000 pounds, which is roughly 100,000 soccer balls. Not too shabby. And we’re giving you a chance to win an exclusive MAN v FAT Football ball to celebrate.

What did we learn this month?

Chris Pratt weighed about 300 pounds at his heaviest.

That’s roughly the equivalent of 300 soccer balls if you’re paying attention.

Londoners are the worst eaters in the country

Londoners are the worst in the country for unhealthy eating, a new study has found. 48% of people eat ready meals, 39% eat fast food, and 32% eat ready meals at least once a week. The research, carried out by online pharmacy Pharmacy Outlet, also found that only 13% of people in Northern Ireland said they had reached their target of eating five meals a day. Tsk.
