Mental food, intuitive eating + weight management

Today we are talking about a topic that is often misunderstood in the nutrition community-intuitive eating and the sub-category of mental eating.

Intuitive eating and mental eating is one of the nutritional methods created as a violent reaction to traditional diets to help people increase confidence and normalize eating patterns. Some critics are away from eating – they are called an excuse to eat what they want and claims to lead to an unhealthy diet. The truth is, while intuitive eating allows the consumption of all foods – even those that are less nutritious – are not intended to justify a weak diet.

What is intuitive eating?

Intuitive eating is an approach to nutrition as you listen to your body to help you determine what you eat and how much you eat instead of using food rules as evidence. This includes honoring the desire for food and getting to know the sermon of hunger and fullness.

It is a very simple concept – if you are hungry to eat a certain food, you eat it – even if this food is usually considered a treatment. When you are no longer hungry, you stop eating. Unfortunately, it is not so simple in practice. Years of following the recommendations of society about what and how to eat and breach prey to the suit may have left most of us on our way to contact our bodies. Have you ever found yourself thinking about any of the following:

  • I really want a sandwich, but I had already eaten bread at breakfast.
  • I didn’t exercise today, so I shouldn’t get dessert.
  • I can’t eat this cookie because I have a cookie yesterday, and I try to watch my weight.

Intuitive

These are all incomplete ideas rooted in the rules of food and the mentality of the diet. Do you help you manage your weight? no.

Intuitive eating and weight management

Intuitive eating seeks to correct these thinking patterns. By allowing yourself to freedom to enjoy foods that are not necessarily the most intense nutrients, but it provides other important benefits-such as pleasure-the food loses its strength. In turn, you become less preoccupied with food and the best ability to organize your amount and provide your body with the nutrients you need to prosper.

It may be difficult to wrap your head at first but this is this – by allowing yourself to take a cookie when you feel it, you are more likely to not eat a dish of cookies later and also able to choose not to eat a cookie when you are not hungry at another time. This is because when you are used to disgrace yourself because of their desire for some foods, you only want these foods. It is an effect “you want what you cannot be.” Once you can eat food whenever you want, it loses its strength and attractiveness.

Again, it is difficult to believe that this is true until trying it yourself and also – it takes time. But as soon as you get this, your body will end in the nutritional foods that are objectively nutritious as fun foods. And even start thinking about nutritious foods as fun foods too! The goal of intuitive eating is to allow your body to be your guide.

Tips for eating mind

Now let’s talk about mental eating – a kind of intuitive food. Eating mind is a tool to help you re -contact your fungal body’s feelings of hunger and fullness. This is a skill that we are born, but we lose with our age and we have to eat our food through food rules. If you were on a diet where you had to track and restrict calories – this is the opposite of listening to the sermon of hunger and fullness. Here are some amazing eating tips to help you reconnect:

  1. Describe your food.

Instead of stuffing your face directly from the refrigerator or chewing directly from the snack bag, take enough time to put a meal or snack on a plate with suitable utensils. This simple act is a symbol of respecting your meal and body. And while I was in that, make it beautiful! Spending some time in the design of your plate can increase your grace of your meal and lead to greater satisfaction.

  1. Sit. After drafting your food, take it to the table.

Not the sofa, not the kitchen counter, and not in walking around the mass – it is not a dog. Sitting on a table helps you refine what you eat and satiety signs.

  1. Remove deviations.

I am guilty like the next person to roam in front of the TV or computer. But I tell you – it is a bad habit. How many times I sat to see a view with a popcorn bag and before you know that, it went as a whole. This is called the mind-* less* eating. If you focus on Netflix, you don’t focus on your food and you will miss your full signals.

  1. Slow. Your mind takes 20 minutes to record fullness.

If you limit your meal within 5 minutes, you will still feel hungry even if you have ate enough to satisfy your body physically. Put your thorn between bites, share a conversation with your colleagues at dinner, and take a sip of water. Everyone will help you taste your meal to determine your full signals and satisfy your meal.

Mental foodMental foodThis is a very wide glimpse of intuitive eating. I learned about these concepts about 5 years ago, and I changed my life. I was addicted to the physical fitness obsessed with calories, and he was always trying to drop those last 5 pounds-alert the spoiler-never happened.

When I stopped obsessing food and gave myself permission to enjoy it, I found freedom and was not amazing and did not gain any weight. I know this is a great fear for many people when they hear about intuitive eating. They think this means that they “give up”. You do not give in – you give your body the ability to find its happiest weight and mind an opportunity to be in peace.

Intuitive eating on a vegetarian diet

Finally, I want to touch on how the eating of a diet mostly is suitable for all this. For some, eating animal or limited foods is a form of restrictions and nutritional bases. I think this really depends on the reasons behind your decision. If you are following a plant -based diet simply because you want to lose weight, it may not work for you.

However, if you choose to eat this way because it corresponds to a rooted lifestyle in relation to animals, the planet, and your public health – and you simply do not want * to eat meat anymore, it is not a rule but a preference.

I don’t want to eat meat, so I do not. Sometimes I want to eat eggs and dairy products, and then “mostly” in my philosophy that depends on plants. This is the way I honor my body and my concern, but also on my health and moral ideals. Your approach may be different. I know that many strict vegetarians who also practice intuitive eating – you should know what suits you.
